Nate Jones labors through scoreless appearance in loss

by Waleed Hawatky | Thu, Apr 19th 1:19pm EDT

Nate Jones walked three, struck out one across 1 1/3 innings in extra-innings loss to A's.

Fantasy Impact:

Jones wasn't terrible relieving Luis Avilán after he blew the save, conceding no hits or runs to the A's but still walked three throwing less than half his pitches for strikes. Still, Jones sports a tidy 1.35 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP and only one earned run surrendered on the season. With nine strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings and opposing batters only hitting .182 against him, he figures to be a better option in the ninth inning than Joakim Soria but has so far served as a set up man.
