Robinson Cano is being suspended 80 games for violating Major League Baseball's joint drug agreement, MLB insider Ken Rosenthal reported Tuesday. (Ken Rosenthal on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Rumors out of the Dominican Republic began swirling about Cano and a possible suspension earlier in the day on Tuesday, but it was unclear about the validity of the reports. However, Rosenthal was able to find a source to confirm the suspension. The suspension stems from a positive test for furosemide, a diuretic commonly used to mask PED use. Cano, who is currently on the disabled list with a fractured hand, reportedly failed the test in the offseason but recently dropped his appeal. Under MLB's drug policy, players are not automatically suspended for use of a diuretic unless MLB can prove he intended to use it as a masking agent.
