Keynan Middleton headed for Tommy John surgery

After initial diagnosis and a second opinion, it has been recommended that Los Angeles Angels reliever Keynan Middleton undergo UCL reconstruction, the team announced Thursday. He is scheduled to meet with the team this evening to discuss a plan of action, plan of care, and recovery timeline. (Los Angeles Angels on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Tommy John surgery is the kiss of death for a pitcher and means a recovery time of more than a year. Once he receives the surgery, Middleton will miss the rest of this season and at least the beginning of next season. It goes without saying, but this is a devastating blow to the young reliever who had been pitching so well for the Angels this season.
