Jose Bautista agrees to deal with Mets

by Mike Maher | Tue, May 22nd 5:46pm EDT

Jose Bautista has agreed to a deal with the New York Mets, MLB insider Jon Heyman reports. Anthony DiComo of MLB.com was the first to report a deal between the two sides was close. (Jon Heyman, FanRag Sports)

Fantasy Impact:

The Mets are desperate for offense, especially with two of their best right-handed hitters, Yoenis Cespedes and Todd Frazier, currently on the disabled list. While Bautista struggled with the Atlanta Braves, hitting .143 through his first 35 at-bats, that is a relatively small sample size for a guy who went unsigned in the offseason and was not able to participate in spring training. However, Bautista batted just .203 while playing in 157 games in 2017, so it is entirely possible that age and injuries have caught up with the 37-year-old.
