Joe Panik takes first on-field batting practice since surgery

Joe Panik took his first on-field batting practice Tuesday and was not limited by his surgically repaired thumb. He said his hand is strong enough that he’s able to use his normal swing. (John Shea on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Early expectations were that Panik would miss upwards of six weeks meaning he'd return in mid-June. It's a positive sign that his thumb seems to be responding well and that there have not been any setbacks. Expect the team to provide a clearer timetable as his baseball activities ramp up.
