Welington Castillo suspended 80 games by MLB for PED violation

Welington Castillo will be suspended 80 games for using a PED in violation of baseball’s Joint Drug Agreement, MLB insider Ken Rosenthal reports. (Ken Rosenthal on Twitter)

Much like the Robinson Cano suspension, rumors began swirling out of the Dominican Republic earlier in the day that a potential suspension for Castillo could be coming. A few hours later, Ken Rosenthal was able to track down sources to confirm the report. For the season, Castillo is hitting .270 with six home runs and 15 RBIs through his first 111 at-bats. Now, he will be suspended until at least mid-August.
