Jonathan Schoop blasts a solo home run in win over the Rays

by Ryan Orndorff | Sat, May 26th 2:31am EDT

Jonathan Schoop went 2-for-4 with a home run as the Orioles defeated the Rays on Friday.

Fantasy Impact:

Schoop went yard against Rays pitcher Yarbrough in the sixth inning to give the Orioles a two run lead. Schoop has consistently been hitting around .250 all year, which has been a disappointment to those expecting last year’s results. He barely draws walks and he has always struck out at a decent clip, but this year he is also making hard contact at a career low, which is concerning. The oblique strain he had in April can be a lingering injury that saps power, so it will be important to see if his production at the plate continues to suffer. Hopefully, his home run tonight is an indication that he is in better health, and on the road back to being more productive.
