Cody Allen looks wild in Friday’s loss

by Carmen Maiorano | Sat, May 26th 11:40am EDT

Cody Allen relieved Andrew Miller in the eighth inning of Friday’s game against the Astros, inheriting Jose Altuve on second. He got Carlos Correa to ground out, but then Altuve scored on a squeeze play after moving over from third on the groundout. Allen then allowed a single, hit by pitch, and walk to load the bases, then exited the game. Without scoring again in the eighth, the Astros broke the game open in the ninth, winning 11-2.

Fantasy Impact:

Not Allen’s best game, and he was fortunate that more of his runners did not come around to score, given the way the Astros were creaming the Tribe’s relievers. Allen now has a 3.48 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 21 Ks in 20 2/3 innings. The Indians need to build a better bullpen quickly, before Allen gets overused.
