David Freese gets on base three times against the Dodgers

by Ryan Orndorff | Thu, Jun 7th 10:40am EDT

David Freese went 1-for-3 with a double and two walks, driving in two on Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Fantasy Impact:

Freese had a very productive game, including a double in the bottom of the fourth that drove in two runs. Interestingly, he got the start at first base Wednesday over the slumping Josh Bell. The 35 year old journeyman has managed to be a completely serviceable league average player for the Pirates in his 41 games this season. Bell is clearly the favored player at first and Moran the same at third, but if Freese continues to produces, it’s not out of the question for him to earn more playing time. The Pirates have shown they will play the hot bat, such as with Austin Meadows, so this could develop into a position battle to pay attention to.
