Sam Dyson converts save Tuesday, will serve as team's closer going forward

by Mike Maher | Wed, Jun 20th 8:24am EDT

Sam Dyson pitched a perfect 2/3 of an inning to earn the save Tuesday against the Marlins. Dyson came into the game with one on and one out in the ninth and was able to induce a game-ending double-play ball to convert his second save of the season. (Alex Pavolvic on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Manager Bruce Bochy said after the game that Dyson will serve as the team's closer going forward, with Hunter Strickland on the disabled list with a broken hand for the next two months. Strickland suffered a broken right hand when he punched a wall after Monday's game against the Miami Marlins. While Dyson is the closer for now, it is possible that he ends up sharing those duties with Tony Watson or the recently activated Mark Melancon.
