Nick Senzel to have season-ending surgery to repair torn tendon in finger

by Mike Maher | Nationals Correspondent | Sat, Jun 23rd 10:58am EDT

The Cincinnati Reds announced on Saturday that top prospect Nick Senzel "on Tuesday will have season-ending surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right index finger...he suffered the injury last night," C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. (C. Trent Rosecrans)

Fantasy Impact:

While Senzel is still a top prospect to hold onto in keeper and dynasty leagues, he can now be dropped in redraft leagues. He slashed .310 / .378 /.509 with six home runs, 25 RBIs, and eight stolen bases across 44 games for the Louisville Bats, the Triple-A affiliate of the Reds, this season. Owners who were stashing Senzel in hopes of a second-half call-up will now have to look elsewhere to boost their infield production.
