Felix Hernandez placed on the 10-day DL with a sore back

by Clinton H. | Tue, Jul 10th 3:24pm EDT

Felix Hernandez has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a sore back as teams head into the All-Star break. The move is intended to help the veteran get healthy with the extra days off. Nick Rumbelow has been recalled and Gordon Beckham has been called up as well. (Ryan Divish on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Hernandez is a shell of his former All-Star self and has been dealing with back discomfort in his last couple of starts. Despite decent outings against the Yankees and Red Sox in the middle of June, Hernandez has given up nine runs over his last three starts. This does not sound like Hernandez will miss much time, if any, beyond the minimum 10 days.
