Chase Anderson allows two first inning homers in loss

by Brad Richter | Red Sox Correspondent | Sat, Jul 14th 7:37pm EDT

Chase Anderson (6-7) gave up back-to-back home runs to Starling Marte and Gregory Polanco in the first inning against the Pirates on Saturday in the first game of the doubleheader. The two runs were all Anderson allowed over 5 1/3 innings but it was enough for the Pirates 2-1 victory. Anderson allowed a total of six hits with two walks and four strikeouts on the day.

Fantasy Impact:

Anderson was a tough-luck loser in the first game of a double-dip between the Pirates and Brewers on Saturday. Anderson goes into the All-Star break with a respectable 3.78 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. However, he has been unable to match last season success overall with a higher ERA and lower K/9 rate this year. Anderson will remain a mainstay in the Brewers rotation over the second half of the season and is a fringe fantasy option in standard leagues.
