Stephen Piscotty continues tear, powers A's to series win

by Waleed Hawatky | Athletics Correspondent | Mon, Jul 16th 1:53pm EDT

Stephen Piscotty finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two runs scored and two RBI in the A's 6-2 win over the Giants on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact:

Piscotty got the A's on the board with a fourth inning RBI single that tied the game up at one run apiece, coming around to score later that inning on a Matt Chapman single in Oakland's big and ultimately game-deciding fourth inning. He'd then tack on another run with a sixth inning shot off reliever Reyes Moronta. Piscotty had a rough couple of months to start the year including the passing of his mother but has really hit his stride when the calendar flipped to June, hitting .309 since while blasting nine home runs and driving in 27 RBI. That puts him at a respectable .264/.326/.457 line with 12 home runs and 46 RBI at the half which is perfectly consistent with the numbers he put up in his breakout 2016 season with the Cardinals. He's riding a nice nine game hit streak into the break as one of the hottest hitters on, arguably, the hottest team in baseball.
