Robert Gsellman converts two-inning save against Yankees

by Dan Harris | Nationals Correspondent | Sat, Jul 21st 8:49am EDT

Robert Gsellman allowed two runs (zero earned) on two hits and two walks over two innings in Friday night's win over the Yankees. He struck out two and earned his fifth save of the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Jeurys Familia is apparently on the verge of being traded, and so Gsellman stayed on for the ninth inning to finish up the game. It's likely that he will take over the closer's role full time when and if Familia is actually dealt. Despite his mediocre numbers (4.15 ERA, 1.31 WHIP), Gsellman would likely put up a fair amount of saves for the rest of the season if he earns the role, and should be added in all leagues.
