Max Scherzer wins 13th game after rain delay

by Elliott Baas | Rangers Correspondent | Sun, Jul 22nd 11:21pm EDT

Max Scherzer improved to 13-5 after the Nationals beat the Braves 6-2. He allowed two earned runs on eight hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Fantasy Impact:

This game had a late start due to rain and had another delay mid-game after Scherzer completed six innings. Scherzer had already thrown 107 pitches before the delay, so he was likely out of the game regardless of weather issues. He gave up quite a few hits in this one, but that's not a regular occurrence for Scherzer and not predictive of future outcomes. The ace now has a 2.43 ERA and 2.75 FIP on the season. His next start will come Friday in Miami.
