Jake Arrieta allowed five runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings on Sunday against the Padres. He struck out four and took the loss, falling to 9-7.
Fantasy Impact:
This was a hugely disappointing effort from Arrieta after shutting down the Red Sox and the Diamondbacks in his last two starts. With middling strikeout numbers, Arrieta needs his pitches to be precise to be able to survive, and they were far from that on Sunday. With a 3.33 ERA and 1.23 WHIP, however, he remains a serviceable starter, and will take on the Mets in his next start.
