Cole Hamels

Phillies scouting Dodgers farm system

USA Today sports journalist Bob Nightengale is reporting that the Phillies have begun building a portfolio on possible trade targets from the Dodgers minor league system for a possible deal involving Cole Hamels. With reports of a deal with Boston falling by the wayside, the Phillies appear to be moving on to the Dodgers, one of the few teams who seem to have enough minor league depth to meet Philadelphia's price tag. Fantasy Impact:

Last season was arguably Hamels' finest major league campaign despite missing the first few weeks of the season. However, a sub-2.00 ERA in 2014 when pitching away from the cozy confines of Citizens Bank Park along with a significantly upgraded defense in LA suggests a trade to the Dodgers could actually allow Hamels to top his 2014 season. While we are still a few steps away from any trade being made, fantasy owners should be ready to move the former World Series MVP up their draft board if a deal is completed.
