Yan Gomes get stitches on thumb

by Carmen Maiorano | Nationals Correspondent | Sat, Sep 29th 11:57pm EDT

Yan Gomes received stitches on his thumb after getting struck by the barrel of a bat Saturday against the Royals, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports. He is expected to be ready for the ALDS on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact:

The Indians actually caught a break with this one, as this could have ended Gomes's season on the spot. Roberto Perez will start Sunday, but will otherwise only play when Trevor Bauer is on the mound. Gomes has been somewhat useful in fantasy this year, as he has a .266 average and 16 homers.
