Shohei Ohtani won the 2018 American League Rookie of the Year award. (MLB on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Ohtani received 25-of-30 first place votes. Miguel Andujar received the other five. Ohtani was actually a better hitter than Andujar in 2018. Ohtani posted a .925 OPS while Andujar posted a .855 mark. Andujar hit five more homers but had over 200 more plate appearances than the two-way phenom. As a pitcher Ohtani put up a 3.31 ERA in 51 2/3 innings pitched. We won’t see him again on a mound until 2020, however. The plan is for him to still hit at some point in 2019.
