Hamels wants to pitch for a winner

by Kerry Kauffman | Wed, Dec 17th 1:17pm EST

Phillies ace Cole Hamels knows that he's been part of trade rumors for some time. Although he's played his entire career for the Phillies and enjoys playing for the organization, he ultimately wants to play for a winner. Considering the downward spiral the Phillies have taken, with rebuilding clearly in progress, Hamels is unlikely to be with the Phillies come opening day. (CSNPhilly.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Hamels has compiled a record of 17-23 over the past two seasons, but has a solid 3.05 ERA over that time with 400 strikeouts and only 381 hits allowed in 424 2/3 innings. Should Hamels be traded to a contender, he should be one of the top pitchers in any draft and expect his win total to increase to the 15-20 game range.
