Nathan Eovaldi to re-sign with the Red Sox

by Mike Maher | Rangers Correspondent | Thu, Dec 6th 10:00am EST

Free agent starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi has agreed to a deal to return to the Boston Red Sox, according to a report from Ken Rosenthal. Terms of the agreement are not yet known. (Ken Rosenthal on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Eovaldi made 11 starts for the Red Sox in the regular season after coming over in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays, pitching to a 3.33 ERA while striking out 48 batters in 54 innings. His free agent stock skyrocketed, however, due to his dominance in the postseason both as a starter and a reliever to help Boston win the World Series. Boston had said from Day 1 that they hoped to re-sign Eovaldi, but it wasn't clear if their financial situation (already projected to be over the luxury tax threshold once again) or the postseason hero's demand in free agency would preclude a reunion.
