Ruben Amaro Jr says Phillies better off without Howard

There's no question that the Philadelphia Phillies are in a rebuilding mode following back-to-back 73 win seasons. Jimmy Rollins has already been traded and it's not a secret that the Phillies would like to trade Ryan Howard. General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. told Howard that the organization would be better off at this point without him. (CSNPhilly.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Howard has seen a steady decline in production over the past several seasons due to injury and age. If the Phillies fail to trade Howard, expect him to produce in the 25 to 30 home run range and drive in around 90 runs. Should he be traded to an American League team, Howard would become an every day designated hitter and in the right situation could once again be a 35 home run, 110-plus RBI man. He's still a viable power option, although don't expect him to help much in the batting average category at this stage of his career.
