Paul Goldschmidt to receive extension offers from Cardinals
by Brendan Tuma | Cardinals Correspondent | Mon, Jan 21st 9:33pm EST
Cardinals owner Bill Dewitt Jr. says the team is going to try and sell Paul Goldschmidt on the idea of signing an extension with the organization. (MLB.com)
Fantasy Impact:
The Cardinals traded for Goldschmidt knowing he had just one year left on his deal, but signing recently acquired players to an extension is a move that has worked for the franchise before. Notable names St. Louis pulled this off with include Mark McGwire, Scott Rolen, and Matt Holliday. At 31 years old Goldschmidt is likely looking to play for a winning organization, which is something the Cardinals will try and be able to offer him.
