Hunter Strickland agrees to a one-year deal with the Mariners

Hunter Strickland and the Mariners agreed to a one-year deal on Thursday. Strickland is under control for the next three seasons if the Mariners choose to retain him through arbitration. (Ken Rosenthal on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Strickland will move on from the Giants after a 3-5 season where he had 37 strikeouts and 14 saves with a 3.97 ERA and 1.412 WHIP. He did miss some time with a broken hand last season and it could be that the Mariners hope to see him perform well in the first half before trading him off for some prospects while they're in the process of rebuilding. He could be worth a pick up in leagues as he may start the year as the Mariners closer.
