Nolan Arenado could sign an extension with Colorado?

Rockies owner Dick Monfort says he is optimistic the team can sign Nolan Arenado to a long-term extension. (MLB.com)

Monfort added "I think we're to the point where we're to the finals". Anything an owner says can't be taken for face value, but it's at least a positive Colorado is expressing interest in re-signing their superstar third baseman. Normally Arenado would head for free agency without question, but he might be looking at what's happening to Bryce Harper and Manny Machado and decide to stay with the Rockies. Arenado and the team recently avoided arbitration by agreeing to a record $26 million contract for 2019.
