Stephen Drew still on the Yankees radar

Although Jon Heyman says that the Yankees like Robert Refsynder and Jose Pirela in their second base battle right now, they are still monitoring Stephen Drew. They will wait for his price per year to drop below $7 million before negotiating. (Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Drew was acquired by the Yankees from the Red Sox at the trade deadline last year and was dismal for the Yankees, hitting only .150 in 46 games with only 11 extra base hits. Drew held out for a multi-year contract last winter after posting a .777 OPS with the Red Sox in 2013 with Gold Glove caliber defense. He signed a one year deal with the Red Sox and lost all fantasy value, as he struggled to a .162/.237/.299 slash in 2014. Drew has a career .742 OPS, which would make him a decent option as a 2B/SS or to stream if there were an injury, but his inconsistent performance and reluctance to sign a short-term contract make him unworthy of a fantasy roster spot.
