Tyler Chatwood completes two innings in spring training debut

by Nick Vanderah | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Sun, Feb 24th 5:27pm EST

Tyler Chatwood pitched two innings in Sunday's spring training matchup against the Giants, and gave up two earned runs on two hits (including a two-run home run) and one walk. He also recorded one strikeout.

Fantasy Impact:

Though there was no television broadcast for this game, Cubs announcers Len Kasper and Ron Coomer noted during the game that, although he did walk a batter and allowed a two-run homer, Chatwood's pitches were much closer to the plate and under better command than they were last season. He has made adjustments to his wind up, and perhaps that will help him regain some of his past form. Even if he has a strong spring Chatwood will likely open the year in the bullpen, starting only in case of injury.
