Mike Soroka not in contention for an Opening Day rotation spot

by Mike Maher | White Sox Correspondent | Thu, Feb 28th 8:36pm EST

Braves starter Mike Soroka is not being considered for a spot in Atlanta's Opening Day rotation, according to a report from The Athletic's David O'Brien. He resumed throwing on Thursday after being shut down for a week. (David O'Brien on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Soroka played catch on Thursday, but the Braves are being cautious with the young right-hander after he missed significant time in 2018 with shoulder woes. If he can proceed without setbacks and have success in the minor leagues, it is reasonable to assume that the Braves will call him up at some point this season. To start, however, it sounds like they are going to take it slow and make sure he can get and stay healthy.
