Miles Mikolas tosses three shutout innings Thursday

by Elliott Baas | Cardinals Correspondent | Fri, Mar 1st 1:05am EST

Miles Mikolas twirled three shutout innings Thursday in the Cardinals' 3-2 spring loss to the Mets. He allowed five hits, one walk, and struck out zero.

Fantasy Impact:

The results were solid from Mikolas, even if he allowed six baserunners and failed to record a strikeout. It's still February, so we're hardly concerned with pitching results at this point anyway. With the ink still wet on a four-year, $68-million-dollar contract and health-related question marks throughout their rotation, the Cardinals are likely going to be relying on Mikolas for another 200 inning season. Yes, he was lucky to go 18-4 and likely won't have another sub-3.00 ERA season, but his superb control and above average groundball rate should help Mikolas be a positive contributor in both WHIP and ERA. He's a rock solid SP3.
