Luke Voit is battling for the first base job in spring training

Manager Aaron Boone admitted Thursday that Luke Voit and Greg Bird are likely battling for one roster spot this spring, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. "It's tough for me to envision us having two first basemen, especially when I feel like [DJ] LeMahieu would be that guy that gets backup reps there," Boone said. (Bryan Hoch on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Voit looks to have the lead in the battle after an amazing August and September last year when he hit .333 with 14 home runs and 33 RBI over that time. But ultimately it will come down to how the two players perform in spring training. If Voit wins the job he will be worth picking up in most fantasy formats.
