Brandon Lowe agrees to six-year extension with Tampa Bay Rays

by Mike Maher | Rays Correspondent | Wed, Mar 20th 12:40am EDT

Tampa Bay Rays infielder/outfielder Brandon Lowe has agreed to a six-year, $24MM contract extension with the team, MLB insider Ken Rosenthal reported late Tuesday night. The contract includes two club options that cover what would have been free agent seasons for Lowe. (Ken Rosenthal on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Lowe is a highly-regarded prospect in the Rays system who reached the majors for the first time last season, batting .233 over his first 148 plate appearances. He did, however, start off slow and got better as time went on. By signing this extension, he is trading security for the potential to make more money sooner, but he will still be just 28 years old at the end of this deal. He has modest projections for 2019 but is a solid candidate in dynasty leagues due to his potential.
