Miguel Cabrera (ankle) will not be ready for Spring Training

Cabrera, who had surgery in October to remove bone spurs on his right ankle and to repair a stress fracture on his right foot, will not be ready for Spring Training. (Anthony Fenech)

Fantasy Impact:

Cabrera will have another checkup in mid-February, but it's too early to tell whether Cabrera will be ready for opening day. Cabrera projects to be a clear first-round draft pick but it is quite possible that he will start slow again this season due to the injuries and missing Spring Training. If Cabrera starts out the season slow again, he could be a good buy-low candidate, but it might be hard to pry him from his owner. FantasyPros' Zeile Consensus Projections has Cabrera hitting 0.313 with 32 HR and 107 RBI.
