David Bote signs five-year extension with Cubs

Bote has signed a contract extension through the 2024 season, with a pair of club options. The deal is worth a reported $15 million. (Gordon Wittenmyer on Twitter)

Bote, who is out of the starting lineup Wednesday, is off to a torrid start to the season with a .364 average through his first four games. His positional versatility makes him an intriguing bench option in NL-only leagues, but his offensive ceiling is limited by a lack of power and regular playing time.
