Jordan Lyles carves up Cubs in win Wednesday

by Elliott Baas | Royals Correspondent | Thu, Apr 11th 12:54am EDT

Jordan Lyles allowed one run on three hits over six innings in the Pirates' 5-2 win over the Cubs on Wednesday. He walked one and struck out 10 while improving to 1-0.

Fantasy Impact:

Whew, Lyles was dealing in this one. Outside of a solo home run by Jason Heyward the Cubs couldn't do anything against Lyles' curveball. In addition to the ten strikeouts Lyles also notched 12 swinging strikes, including five with his curveball. Lyles has shown flashes of brilliance in the past, but consistency has always been an issue for him. He's worth a speculative add after a start this good, and could even be worth using depending on league depth and needs in his next start Tuesday at Detroit.
