After exercising his opt-out clause, the Yankees had 48 hours to add Gonzalez to the major-league roster or they needed to release him from his contract. Now a free agent, Gonzalez should have plenty of suitors, as teams across baseball are in need of starting pitching. Hopefully, Gonzalez can land in the National League, where the lack of a designated hitter should be a boost to his value.
