Joe Musgrove can't make it through three in loss Friday

by Elliott Baas | Padres Correspondent | Sat, May 4th 3:13pm EDT

Joe Musgrove allowed seven runs (five earned) over 2.2 innings in the Pirates' 14-1 loss to the Athletics on Friday. He walked two and struck out one while falling to 1-3.

Fantasy Impact:

This was Musgrove's first real dud of 2019, and boy was it a stinker. He couldn't make it through three innings and notched just one strikeout. A pair of Jung Ho Kang throwing errors didn't help Musgrove, but he wasn't pitching well regardless. He still has a 2.63 ERA on the season, but he also has a 4.14 xFIP due to a rather fortunate 2.8% HR/FB ratio. He's still a solid pitcher that's worth using all the toughest of matchups. His next start comes Wednesday vs. Texas.
