Yasiel Puig hits fifth home run in win Saturday

by Elliott Baas | Sun, May 5th 12:12am EDT

Yasiel Puig went 3-for-4 with two singles, a solo home run, and two RBI in the Reds' 9-2 win over the Giants on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact:

Could this be the game that sparks a Yasiel Puig hot streak? It's hard to say at this point, as Puig has had a miserable start to the season, only to occasionally pepper in a game like this to get his owner's hopes up. Puig did boost his OPS to .613 after this game, but that's still far below expectations. His strikeout rate has jumped to 24.2% and his walk rate has fallen to 4%, which are both concerning for his long term outlook. He's got enough of a track record, and he's still just 28, so it's not like decline should be hitting yet. Owners should stick with Puig and hope he can bring the production we were expecting.
