Brandon Woodruff fans nine in dominant start Wednesday

by Elliott Baas | Brewers Correspondent | Thu, May 9th 12:52am EDT

Brandon Woodruff allowed one run on four hits over six innings in the Brewers' 7-3 win over the Nationals on Wednesday. He walked none and struck out nine while improving to 5-1.

Fantasy Impact:

Woodruff just keeps rolling, and this was his best start yet. The Brewers finally allowed him to go six innings, and it paid off big time for them. Perhaps Woodruff has earned a longer leash. His four-pitch arsenal certainly affords him the ability to go deep into games. He now has a 4.25 ERA, but his 2.88 FIP and 11.48 K/9 indicate that he's been much better than his ERA suggests. His next start comes Tuesday at Philadelphia.
