Sonny Gray can't make it through five Wednesday

by Elliott Baas | Cardinals Correspondent | Thu, May 9th 9:40am EDT

Sonny Gray allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits over 4.1 innings in the Reds' 5-4 extra innings win over the Athletics on Wednesday. He walked five and struck out three in the no decision.

Fantasy Impact:

Gray has begun to struggle after posting a few dominant starts back in April, and the biggest change has been a drop in velocity. He was averaging 93-94 MPH with his fastball in mid-April, and now he's averaging 92 MPH. He's still pitching primarily off his slider, which is a good thing for Gray, but he couldn't find the strike zone with it in this game. His next start comes Tuesday vs. Chicago.
