Joe Musgrove shelled for eight runs Thursday

Joe Musgrove allowed eight runs on six hits over three innings in the Pirates' 17-4 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday. He walked five and struck out three while falling to 1-4.

Fantasy Impact:

This is a night Musgrove would like to forget. Musgrove normally has sharp control, and raised his walk rate from 2.2 BB/9 to 3.1 BB/9 in just this one start. His 45% zone rate wasn't abnormally low, but batters just weren't chasing anything in this start. If this were an isolated incident it would be easier to forgive, but this is the second straight start of three innings or fewer for Musgrove. His next start comes Tuesday at Arizona, a middle of the road offense versus righties. Still, the safe move might be to bench Musgrove and see if he can turn it around, rather than put your ratios on the line.
