Trevor Williams allows one run in win Friday

by Elliott Baas | Nationals Correspondent | Sat, May 11th 11:19am EDT

Trevor Williams allowed one run on nine hits over seven innings in the Pirates' 2-1 win over the Cardinals on Friday. He walked one and struck out five while improving to 2-1.

Fantasy Impact:

Williams bounced back after two lackluster starters prior to this one, and now has a 3.40 ERA and 3.14 FIP on the year. His 5.7% HR/FB rate should rise towards league average, but it doesn't necessarily have to regress Williams all the way to his 4.32 xFIP. He's nearly halved his walk rate this season down to 4.3%, and his increased his swinging strike rate to 10.1%. Williams will never be an ace, but he's a reliable back-end piece. His next start comes Wednesday at Arizona.
