Zack Wheeler allows six runs in loss to Nationals Thursday

by Mike Maher | Phillies Correspondent | Thu, May 16th 10:40pm EDT

Mets starter Zack Wheeler allowed six earned runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings in a loss to the Washington Nationals on Thursday. The loss drops him to 3-3 on the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Wheeler has been up and down through the first month and a half of the season as he had thrown quality starts in five of his six previous outings but had also allowed seven earned runs in a start prior to that stretch. While his ERA is 4.85, his FIP is almost a full two runs lower at 2.87, and he has 64 strikeouts in 55 2/3 innings. He could be an attractive buy-low candidate for fantasy owners right now, and his next start is scheduled to come against this same Nationals squad at home.
