Max Scherzer takes fifth loss Friday

by Mike Maher | Nationals Correspondent | Sat, May 18th 7:21am EDT

Nationals starter Max Scherzer allowed three earned runs on six hits and four walks while striking out eight over six innings in Friday's loss to the Chicago Cubs. The loss drops him to 2-5 on the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Scherzer has not been his usual dominant self through 10 starts in 2019, pitching to a 3.72 ERA and suffering five losses in the process. He does, however, have 87 strikeouts over 65 1/3 innings and has tossed five consecutive quality starts, so a Scherzer not at his best is still better than most. His next start is scheduled to come against the Mets in New York.
