Mike Foltynewicz takes fifth loss against Pirates

Foltynewicz (1-5) surrendered three earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts and a walk across six innings while taking a loss against the Pirates on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact:

The 27-year-old gave up two homers in the second inning, which came to be enough to suffer another loss. Foltynewicz's HR/9 surprisingly dropped to 3.0 after the outing, a testament to his tendency to give up the long ball this season. Homers have not been Foltynewicz's only issue, as he's also posted a .270 batting average against. After Thursday's rough start, Foltynewicz now owns a 5.89 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP, to go along with 37 strikeouts in 44.1 innings. He'll square off against the Pirates again in his next start, scheduled for Tuesday at home.
