Mets starter Zack Wheeler allowed four earned runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings in Monday’s loss to the Atlanta Braves. The loss drops him to 5-5 on the season.
Wheeler has now given up 10 hits in each of his last starts while allowing nine earned runs over 10 2/3 innings. The Mets are still focused on contenting for the time being, but Wheeler is a free agent after this season and has been the subject of trade rumors if and when New York decides to become a seller at the deadline. His next start is scheduled to come against the Cubs in Chicago.
