Jason Vargas labors through 4.2 innings in no-decision

by Connor Rooney | Fri, Jun 21st 8:33pm EDT

Jason Vargas allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks over 4.2 innings in Friday's 5-4 win over the Cubs. He struck out three in the no-decision.

Fantasy Impact:

Vargas failed to make it through the fifth inning, and he wasn't very sharp in this one. Two errors in the fifth were not helpful to Vargas's cause, but his high pitch count and a two-run homer served up to Addison Russell were enough for the Mets to call to the bullpen. His season numbers have been a pleasant surprise, as he sits at 3-3 with a 3.75 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. His next start will come Wednesday against the Phillies in Philadelphia.
