Jordan Lyles struggles in loss to Cubs

by Connor Rooney | Royals Correspondent | Fri, Jul 5th 7:55am EDT

Jordan Lyles (5-5) allowed seven runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out seven across four innings, earning him the loss Thursday against the Cubs.

Fantasy Impact:

Lyles was in trouble from the start, surrendering a home run to the third batter of the game. Things didn't improve from there, as he allowed two more homers before being removed with two runners on in the fifth. Lyles did have 14 swinging strikes on 78 pitches, which is far from negligible. He enters the All-Star break with a 4.36 ERA and 1.30 WHIP.
