Liam Hendriks will remain the A's closer for now despite Blake Treinen's return. Oakland "plans to ride his performance as long as possible," per the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser. (Susan Slusser on Twitter)
This is a quick turnaround from initial reports that Treinen would slide right back into his ninth-inning role. Hendriks has not allowed a run since June 5, collecting 25 strikeouts and two walks in those 14.2 innings. Treinen, meanwhile, watched his WHIP elevate to 1.60 when yielding two walks and the game-deciding run in his return from the IL. If not rostered already, Hendriks should be grabbed in all leagues before the All-Star break. Don't drop Treinen just yet. After all, he's only a year removed from recording a 0.78 ERA and 100 strikeouts.
