With rain forcing a doubleheader, the Yankees utilized an opener for Thursday's nightcap. Cortes Jr. returned to the role of following Chad Green, one he grew familiar with in June (18 1/3 innings pitched) while New York's rotation dealt with injuries. The result remained relatively the same as he threw 3 1/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits against the Rays.
